Arlo fixes one of its app quirks to make home security easier

In 2024, more and more companies are cracking down on how many devices you can log into at the same time. Think of the likes of Netflix, et al. Fortunately, security company Arlo is going the other way, adding a multiple login feature, and fixing one of its quirks in the process.

Although an odd omission in the first place, the change means more flexibility for keeping tabs on your smart security system. Before the recent update, signing into an Arlo account on another device, such as your phone, would automatically revoke access on a previously logged-in device.

Considering that many Arlo security devices rely on smart home connectivity, it makes sense to let you log in via multiple devices. Particularly for families, multiple members can now check security camera feeds and alerts from their respective devices.

Via Arlo’s mobile app, you can check live security camera footage, plus receive basic notifications. Cloud storage, person detection, and customisable motion notifications cost extra as part of an Arlo Secure subscription.

For a single-camera setup, you’re looking at $7.99 per month. Multi-camera subscriptions cost $12.99 per month, while storage of 4K footage requires a more expensive $17.99 monthly tier. Arlo Secure seems to be a reasonably popular service, having racked up three million subscribers earlier this year.

To try and lower the barrier to entry for its devices, Arlo recently rolled out bundles, discounting the total cost when buying multiple devices together. The home security brand also launched a series of cameras starting at $99.
