After its reveal earlier this year, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle now has a release date – and it’s no longer an Xbox exclusive.
Revealed in the new Gamescom trailer overnight, the highly anticipated game will swing onto PC and Xbox consoles on 9 December 2024. But that’s not all – it’s coming to PS5 too.
It’s a change of tact from Microsoft, the company that owns Bethesda, the publisher behind Indy’s upcoming game. Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, previously poured cold water on claims that Indiana Jones would relinquish its Xbox console-exclusive status.
Now, as confirmed in the latest developer update, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will release on PS5 at a to-be-confirmed date in 2025. It means that PC and Xbox players will get first dibs, with the game expected to drive Game Pass subscriptions for Microsoft.
Post-launch DLC has also been confirmed, bringing additional story content to the game. Not much else is known at this stage; “more details coming soon” is the official word from the development team.
It’s set to be one of the biggest game launches of the year, alongside the likes of Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws. Gamescom’s opening night presentation saw plenty of other big announcements, with some heavy hitters due out in 2025.
Looter shooter Borderlands 4 is one of them, alongside Mafia: The Old Country – the latest entry in the long-running crime drama franchise – and strategy giant Civilization VII launching on 11 February 2025.
Gamescom is one of the few remaining major game exhibitions, so expect to hear plenty more from the event in the coming days.
