The new Apple AirPods 4 get one of the biggest features from Apple’s Pro-series buds: active noise cancellation.
Revealed at Apple’s September 2024 event, the upgraded earbuds come in two separate models. Both include Apple’s H2 chip and an improved audio architecture. The more expensive of the two includes active noise cancellation, previously exclusive to Apple’s Pro range.
Discussed at the launch was Apple’s effort to design the AirPods 4 in a way that fits comfortably in as many ears as possible. Considering it doesn’t have adjustable ear tips, it’s a big task.
Thanks to the H2 chip, the new earbuds are said to feature better bass levels and crisper high-frequency audio. Plus, the Apple AirPods 4 lets you respond to Siri requests via gestures, like a nod or shake of the head.
The charging case is now smaller and supports USB-C charging, in line with the latest iPhone models.
Apple AirPods 4 price release date
In Australia, the price of the Apple AirPods 4 starts at $219 for the non-ANC model, and $299 for the ANC-inclusive model. Pre-orders are live now ahead of the launch on Friday 20 September.
More details to come.
