PAX Aus 2024 just revealed a huge range of playable games

PAX Aus, one of the southern hemisphere’s biggest gaming events, has just confirmed its absolutely packed range of attractions for the 2024 edition.

After a few years of focusing heavily on indie-made games and hardware brands following the pandemic, some of the biggest names are back at PAX Aus. This year’s exhibitors include Bethesda, Blizzard, Devolver, Sega, EA, and Ubisoft, just to name a few.

That’s not to say gaming hardware won’t feature prominently; far from it. Many of the usual suspects are coming along to show their wares, including Asus, Intel, LG, and Samsung. And, as previously announced, many locally-made games will entertain the masses.

One of the most curious brands set to feature at PAX Aus 2024 is Steam. According to the event’s press release, “more on that when the show opens, you’re not going to want to miss it!” Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Time to manifest a local Steam Deck release.

If you’re into video games and broader pop culture, there’s way too much happening to adequately summarise here. In terms of playable games on the expo floor, here’s what I’m looking forward to:

  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows
  • Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred
  • Dragon Ball Z: Sparking!
  • KILL KNIGHT
  • Metaphor: ReFantazio
  • Sonic X Shadow Generations
  • Two Point Museum

That’s just the tip of the iceberg, with some of the recently award-nominated Australian games also set to demo on the show floor. Beyond video games, there are also countless panels to attend, including one from Australia’s own Julian Wilton, Creative Director of Massive Monster, the studio responsible for 2022’s smash hit Cult of the Lamb. Or, if tabletop gaming is more your style, PAX has a huge area to play Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: the Gathering, and Disney’s new Lorcana card game.

Taking place between 11-13 October at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, PAX Aus 2024 is nearly sold out. Only single-day passes for Friday and Sunday remain available, so you better get in soon.
