Fresh from its showcase at IFA 2024, Hisense has confirmed that its art-inspired CanvasTV is coming to Australia soon.
It’s a new entry in the genre of TVs designed to sit neatly on a wall as if it was a picture frame. In fitting with the theme, the Hisense CanvasTV comes with a collection of pre-installed artworks to give your home the gallery treatment when not watching TV.
It won’t stay on needlessly when no one’s around to appreciate the art, either. When its motion sensor recognises that no one’s around, it automatically switches off to conserve power.
Adding to the brand’s flagship ULED range, including the Hisense U8NAU and U7NAU models, the CanvasTV (S7NAU) takes the form of a 4K QLED TV with a 144Hz refresh rate. Hisense describes the screen as being a “Hi-Matte anti-glare display” to help tackle any light in the room. From an audio perspective, it packs a 2.0.2-channel speaker system, which should be pretty reasonable before you add separate speakers.
Clearly this TV is about aesthetics as much as it is about producing a nice picture. Out of the box, the Hisense CanvasTV comes with a teak frame, which you can swap with various “StyleSwap Frames”. If you register the TV with the brand, you can also get an additional frame – white or walnut – for free.
Hisense CanvasTV price and release date in Australia
Launching in Australian retailers by the end of September, Hisense’s gallery-styled TV comes in 55-inch and 65-inch variants. Here’s how much each size costs:
That makes it slightly cheaper than the closest competition, The Frame TV from Samsung, by a couple of hundred dollars.
Hisense also announced the launch of VIDAA U8, the latest version of its TV operating system. Most of Australia’s popular streaming apps come included, like Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Disney+, Kayo, Foxtel, Stan, and Optus Sport.
With the art theming of the CanvasTV, 300 different art pieces are pre-installed, which you can increase to more than 1,000 via a VIDAA account. So, if you want a TV that doubles as a living room feature piece, this looks like a contender.
