Iconic Aussie track lands in Forza Motorsport in new update

It’s time to rev up the V8s because Bathurst is now a playable track in Xbox’s sim racing game Forza Motorsport.

The game’s latest update adds the iconic Mount Panorama Circuit as part of a series of content additions dubbed “Australia Month”. The famous Bathurst 1000 race is now playable in Forza Motorsport, alongside several Aussie-themed in-game challenges.

To satisfy punters’ Holden versus Ford rivalry, you can race in one of two Australian V8 Supercars; the 2017 Ford #17 Shell V-Power Racing Team Falcon FG X or the 2017 Holden #22 Walkinshaw Performance VF Commodore.

Racing in a V8 is thrilling enough in itself, but it’s not the only Australian vehicle to get a nod in the latest update. Early 1990s Holden Commodores, a 1973 Ford XB Falcon GT, and the 2014 Ford FPV Limited Edition Pursuit Ute are among the included cars with a local flavour.

If you complete several of the Australia Month events, you’ll get a 2013 Holden #10 Xbox Racing Team Commodore VF as an in-game reward. It’s a neat little throwback to the one-off promotional car that competed at Bathurst in 2013 to coincide with Forza Motorsport 5.

A whole bunch of other rewards are up for grabs, in addition to various game updates, which you can read about via the game’s official blog. The inclusion of Bathurst in Forza Motorsport takes me back to the Australian setting of Forza Horizon 3, which is sadly no longer available to purchase.
