Gaming isn’t the cheapest hobby going around. Once you factor in the costs of consoles, extra controllers, headsets, and all manner of other peripherals, it quickly adds up. Australia’s budget tech brand Laser wants to change that with its fresh range of GTEK gaming gear aimed at mobile, PC, and console players.
There’s a gaming-themed soundbar as part of the new additions, alongside a tenkeyless mechanical keyboard, and a controller for mobile devices. High-speed HDMI and charging cables also join the fray, considerably cheaper than many other brands.
So, what makes a soundbar ‘gaming-themed’, you ask? One look at the GTEK Odin soundbar will tell you everything you need to know. A 2.1-channel setup that includes a dedicated subwoofer, the Odin also comes with two RGB light columns that connect via USB-C. Each light syncs up with your gameplay, adding a bit of visual flourish to your setup.
Reading the spec sheet, it looks like the Odin soundbar supports HDMI eARC, 3.5mm, and Bluetooth 5.3 inputs. It’s not clear whether it supports HDMI passthrough, the feature that lets you plug a console directly into the soundbar, thus freeing up a TV port. At $199, passthrough functionality would be unlikely.
Another new device worth highlighting is the GTEK Wireless Gaming Controller Pro. A controller for mobile devices akin to the Backbone One, it clips onto phones and tablets, providing a fully-equipped gamepad in the process.
Interestingly, a big point of difference between this gamepad and the Backbone is its Bluetooth functionality. Instead of powering on via a USB port, it uses its rechargeable battery to connect independently. That means it works with PC, Mac, and the Nintendo Switch in addition to mobile. At $89.95, it’s also a fair bit cheaper than other mobile-centric devices.
Beyond the big-ticket items, here’s the full range of new devices starting to arrive at JB Hi-Fi:
- GTEK Odin Gaming 2.1CH Soundbar with 2 RGB light bars: $199
- GTEK Wireless Gaming Controller Pro: $89.95

Some devices are out now, while others are set to arrive in the new year.
