Samsung’s One UI 7 beta reveals big changes to Galaxy AI

AI is continuing to become a big part of how we use our smartphones.  Back in January of 2024, Samsung’s Galaxy AI was one of the first cabs off the rank for this new breed of AI-powered devices.

While packed with AI capabilities including Circle to Search, Live Translate, and Generative Edit, some tools could be a little difficult to find in the menus. Also, a few Galaxy AI features were tied to specific apps and not available across the entire phone’s interface. Learn more about Samsung’s most popular Galaxy AI features

Samsung’s upcoming One UI 7 fixes this and “…marks a significant leap forward by integrating leading AI agents and multimodal capabilities into every touch point of the interface.”

This is a timely update, as we’re already seeing more pervasive AI tools in Apple Intelligence on iPhones and with Google’s Sierra AI features on Pixel devices.

Updated Galaxy AI tools

As well as the interface, Samsung is adding a few more toys starting with advanced writing assistant tools. These will allow people to select text in any application, such as mail, messages, web browsers or WhatsApp, and, we assume, apply tools such as summarization, writing styles, proofreading, and more.

There’s also a new Call Transcript feature that will create transcripts of calls in up to 29 languages, assuming that call recording is enabled.

The One Ui 7 update gets more secure too with Knox Matrix, Theft Protection, and an “auto-blocker” to enhance safety in “…today’s hyperconnected AI-powered world.”

When the final version will be ready is anyone’s guess, but likely in the first half of 2025.
