Think 10kg is a decent capacity for a washing machine? How about 19kg? That’s the whopping capacity supported by the new LG WashTower model, which stacks a large-capacity washing machine and dryer together.
LG claims it’s “Australia’s largest capacity washing machine”. Based on the available data listed on the Energy Rating website, it seems to be true. The dryer part of the combo holds up to 10kg, so it’s big laundry loads all around.
Known by its model number “WWT-1910”, the new LG WashTower has a 4.5-star Energy Rating and a 4-star Water Rating when washing. For the dryer component, the appliance boasts a 10-star Energy Rating, using heat pump technology.
As has become standard with high-end appliances, both the washing machine and dryer contain a lot of different automated settings. Features like automatic detergent dosage, fabric detection, and wash or dry cycle optimisation can all be handled by the appliance based on each load of laundry.
Like most modern appliances, LG’s latest washer includes a touchscreen interface. At 4.3 inches, the LCD screen lets you control both the washer and dryer. Alternatively, the appliance hooks up with LG’s ThinQ app for remote-based controls. It’s possible that future features will come via software updates as part of the company’s recently announced “ThinQ AI” platform.
It’s on the pricier side of home appliances, costing $4,999 in Australia. However, at the time of writing, LG has it listed for $3,999 online. Depending on your aesthetic preference, you can grab the washer-dryer combo in black, navy blue, matte grey or forest green.
19kg is one heck of a big washing machine. Various 18kg and 18.5kg washers are already available, but this one promises to let you squeeze just a bit more out of each batch of laundry.
