Just in time for footy grand finals, Aldi confirmed that it’s bringing back its massive TV deal. This time, it’s a bigger 75-inch TV coming to the Aldi Special Buys aisle this week for the low price of $799.
That’s the same price as the 70-inch TV sold by Aldi a couple of years ago. I could make some joke about how you can get a few extra inches for the same price, but I’d never stoop to such crass commentary. When have I ever resorted to lowbrow humour?
On sale this Saturday, 20 September, the 75-inch TV made by budget brand Bauhn displays a 4K resolution, and uses LG’s webOS software platform. As a general rule, budget TVs don’t crack our best TV rankings, but if you want a big screen for less than $1,000, or a secondary TV, this is a decent option.
The specs on Aldi’s website don’t go into too much detail. Of the three HDMI ports, it’s unlikely any will support 120Hz inputs for gaming. But the TV does have a couple of USB ports for playing stored media
Appropriately, Aldi also has a range of specials lined up across all kinds of footy snacks. Although my interest in the AFL grand final plummeted following the Crows’ unceremonious elimination, I’m still keen to partake in the festivities. And by “partake in the festivities”, I mean eat lots of snacks.
If that’s also you, or you have a vested interest in the footy finals, visit Aldi this Saturday to take a gander at its big-screen TV. Knowing the track record of past Special Buys sales, like the ever-popular Ecovacs robot vacuum, it’ll likely sell out quickly.
