Oppo may have solved the biggest flaw with foldable phones

Foldable phones are a lot better now than the early, chunky attempts at making foldable screens. If there’s one thing that has stumped engineers for a while, it’s the visible crease along the screen where the phone folds. Oppo claims that it has done the best job at fixing this with the recently announced Find N6, and it’s hard to argue with the results.

To make the crease in the Find N6 practically invisible, Oppo created what it calls the “Zero-Feel Crease” hinge. The hinge is what usually produces a foldable phone’s crease, particularly when there are imperfections in the design.

To smoothen the hinge, Oppo filled in the hinge with a specially designed liquid polymer. The thicker phone screen glass goes over the top, and you’re left with a no-crease design that’s nice to touch. It’s worth checking out the details about how it all works.
