Mini-LED technology is known for creating the best picture quality, but what is behind the screen that makes it so great? The key to creating a sharp and colourful image is to reduce the contrast between the dark and coloured backlit areas behind a screen. This is where Mini-LED comes in.
The 7860 x 4320 4K display on Hisense Mini-LED TV is literally backed by an innovative backlight system, made up of 10,000 mini-LEDs (thus the name). These LEDs provide more than 1000 local dimming zones, which means the TV’s processor has more control over contrast, light, and shadows than regular Hisense LED TVs. The algorithms are complicated, but the results are plain to see: deeper blacks, and a more immersive, intense image overall.
This technology is especially important here in Australia with our often light-filled living rooms and spaces. A Mini-LED TV in your home will help ensure every object on the screen is displayed with full clarity, even on extra bright and sunny days.
In 2022, Hisense released two flagship ULED 4K Mini-LED models, the U8HAU, available in 55, 65 and 75 inch models, and the U9HAU which is available in 65 and 75 inch. Plus, the U9HAU is classified as Mini-LED ‘Pro’, due to an ultra-sharp backlight that’s fifty times smaller compared to conventional Hisense LEDs.
An innovative new backlight system, combined with the latest in AI technology and incredible image quality and an innovative new backlight system – that’s what you want to future proof your TV purchase, and that’s exactly what the Hisense ULED 4K Mini-LED range promises to do.
What makes Hisense Mini-LED TVs different?
The Mini-LED line-up is more than just the rice grain-sized backlighting system, or the pixels on the screen. The range offers images more colour, hues and shades, thanks to QLED Quantum Dot technology and the production of more than one billion shades of colour.
The U8HAU and U9HAU can also handle almost every format of content via HDMI 2.1 inputs at 120Hz, in addition to providing 200 Smooth Motion. Gamers especially should take note, as many of the latest gaming features on the major consoles need a HDMI 2.1 connection on your TV to display smoother overall gameplay, and enable more responsive controls.
HDMI 2.1 also helps ensure outstanding picture quality from whatever components you choose to plug in.
This is further enhanced through Game Mode Pro, which includes Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Automatic Low-Latency Mode (ALLM). When enabled, these make your Hisense Mini-LED TV more like a PC monitor, with processors working to make games smoother (VRR), and lag-free (ALLM) – you’ll always be ahead of the game.
With the viewing experience of the TV so packed with innovative features, obviously the audio must hold up its end as well. The U8HAU and U9HAU can handle cinema-grade audio, and support 2.1.2 Dolby Atmos, so with the right content – or even with the addition of a sound bar – you can experience enveloping 3D sound.
Dolby isn’t just about sound though, with the Mini-LED range bringing Dolby Vision and Dolby Vision IQ straight to your living room. That means when you play certain content – such as a Blu-ray movie that includes a Dolby Vision datastream – Dolby Vision IQ will take control of your TV’s backlight system to meticulously control light and shadow, using instructions encoded by the creators of the content, instead of just an algorithm that allows the TV to adjust to the lighting conditions. The U9HAU also supports IMAX Enhanced, which is the other format for 3D sound and backlight control.
As a certified IMAX enhanced TV, the U9HAU can deliver impeccable image and DTS sound quality to meet the standards of the IMAX certification committee. The TV can offer an immersive viewing experience, thanks to IMAX Mode’s increased colour, resolution, contrast, and high-fidelity sound.
While both Mini-LED models are packed with features, there are small differences between the U8HAU and U9HAU. Beyond the varied offering of screen sizes, the U9HAU includes the addition of advanced sound with 2.1.2 Dolby Atmos. This supports sound bars with two up-firing speakers, so you can create the ultimate 3D sound.
Is the Hisense Mini-LED range smart?
All Hisense smart TVs are easily controlled via the VIDAA U6 operating system. Use the TV’s handy remote to access the VIDAA on-screen interface, where you’ll find all your favourite streaming apps, as well as support for Google Voice Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
Aussies are looking to upgrade their TVs, not just to get the latest tech, but to go up a couple of sizes too. Bigger is better, and at up to 75 inches, the Mini-LED range is one of the biggest. That’s part of why the design of a Hisense TV is both minimalist and distinctive – so it looks good in any home.
Smarter, bigger TVs, with better image quality, more compatibility, AI image processing, 3D audio support and so much more – what more could you want?!
