At GadgetGuy, we are asked to review all sorts of products, and the Oclean AirPump A10 Water Flosser is certainly a bit different.
Even before I get into this review, I will state that there is no smartphone app. I am so pleased, as we have far too many apps in today’s world. So, let’s unpack what a water flosser is, why you need one, and whether this one is any good.

Why do you need a water flosser?
I don’t know about you, but on my yearly trip to the dentist, I am asked, “Have you been flossing your teeth?” Of course, I say I have, as I did it for the first time since my last visit that morning because I was going to the dentist.
Flossing is an important part of dental hygiene. The process helps remove food particles, plaque, and bacteria from between teeth, which can save you from the pain and expense of a filling or gum disease.
A water flosser or dental water jet uses a pressurised stream of water to clean between teeth and gums. Think of it as a mini Gerni, cleaning between teeth and washing out the bad stuff.
The Australian Dental Association recommends that you floss at least once a day.
Oclean AirPump A10 Water Flosser features
Opening the box, there is not much to this device. You will find the palm-sized pump, a choice of a standard or orthopedic nozzle, and a USB-C cable. You would only use the orthopedic nozzle if you had braces.
The Oclean uses a pulsating jet of air and some water to remove build-ups between your teeth and gums. This pulsating action differs from other dental water jets on the market using air and water. The jet itself can be adjusted to three strengths. Normal is the strongest, soft is for sensitive teeth and gums, and massage is for extreme sensitivity. Overall, the pulsating action is designed to maximise the effect while minimising the risk of bleeding gums.
The pump is comfortable to hold in the hand as well as being waterproof when submerged in one metre of water for 30 minutes so a quick dip in a bathroom sink will be fine. Not that we suggest this.
An internal battery is charged by USB-C plug and should last a few weeks of daily use with each charge. A clean lasts around 30 seconds before the water reservoir is drained. Approximately 80 pulses will occur in that 30 seconds dispensing 45mL of water. This same water reservoir acts as a storage bay for the nozzle which is handy for travelling and water may be substituted for mouthwash.

Using the Oclean water flosser
I must admit to being apprehensive about putting a pulsating jet of water in my mouth. Attaching the nozzle, charging, and filling the unit with water was pretty straightforward, and the instructions thus far were easy to follow. The next bit of the instructions is to jet between your teeth and gums, keeping your mouth mostly closed. I felt these instructions lacked more explanation.
The water reservoir has a neat water-tight seal and is easily filled from the tap when you are ready to start. That same lid allows you to drain any water after use.
Putting this in your mouth the first time is weird. Doing this over a sink would be best, as I found that you needed to spit out the wastewater regularly. Closing your mouth is good advice, as you can easily spray the bathroom mirror and bench.
The pressure is not strong, and other than being weird, it does not hurt. The proof is in the spit from your mouth, and I could see that I should be flossing more often.
By pressing the power button for two seconds, you can change the intensity. The soft mode pulses at a lower rate, and the massage mode has lower pulsating and lower pressure. Note that this is my subjective analysis based on observing the pressure on my palm.
I did have that feeling in my teeth, similar to after I flossed with string but with less pain, and my teeth felt cleaner, especially after a week of using Oclean.
My takeaway from this product is that it is simple, painless, and cleans my teeth well. The review process was also a wake-up call that I should have been flossing more regularly.
Who is the Oclean AirOump A10 Water Flosser for?
This gadget has no app and simply an on-and-off button. It provides a reusable teeth flossing solution that is easier to manage than traditional dental floss. My take on this is it is for anyone who should be flossing but is not today, as it makes the process simpler.
I acknowledge that putting a pulsating air/water jet in your mouth has an initial uncomfortable barrier but once you have done it a few times you start to think “Why did I not do this sooner?”
