Remember in Toy Story how there were all those toys with really unsettling legs? Like, they just shouldn’t have legs like that. It looked wrong, unnatural. Not sure why I thought of that. On an unrelated note, Dreame just announced the X50 Ultra, a new robot vacuum cleaner with legs.
It’s designed for all those places with a small step up between various rooms, which are inaccessible for traditional robot vacuum cleaners. It’s actually a really clever idea, I just wish it didn’t look like a bulldog and a frog crossed over in a science experiment.
The X50 Ultra’s legs are equipped with ProLeap technology, able to manoeuvre up stairs up to 6cm in height. It’s hardly an eight-foot vertical leap, but it’s still better than any other current robot vacuum cleaner can achieve.
Other features of the X50 Ultra include a HyperStream Detangling DuoBrush, Dual Flex Arms, Intelligent Power Doc and up to 20,000Pa Vortex Suction. But really, we’re just here for the legs.
“We’re thrilled to have unveiled the X50 Ultra with its innovative retractable legs, the X50 can expertly manoeuvre steps and door sills offering more efficient cleaning in more areas of the home,” said Michael Eagle, Sales and Marketing Director ANZ at Dreame Technology.
The Dreame X50 Ultra will be available in Australia in March 2025 with pricing details to come soon.
Other products announced by Dreame at CES 2025 include the H15 Pro Heat (a wet/dry vacuum cleaner), Z20 Station (cordless stick vacuum), Z1 Pro (a cordless robotic pool cleaner), Airstyle Pro (a hair drying and styling tool), and Glory Pro (an unfortunately named hair dryer).
As Eagle puts it, each device is aimed at “making cleaning easier inside and outside of the home.”
Between the X50 Ultra having legs, and Roborock’s newest device having an arm, perhaps a Robot Wars-styled battle royale is on the cards.
