Despite its battling roots, the Pokémon series has a strong history of puzzle games; I still think about Pokémon Puzzle League and Pokémon Trozei more than I suspect is normal. There’s now a new puzzle game joining its ranks, with Pokémon Friends out now, following the recent Pokémon Presents livestream.
Pokémon Friends bundles more than 1,200 puzzles and brain teasers into a cutesy package. Solving puzzles rewards you with yarn to make Pokémon plushies you can then use to decorate an in-game room. Considering the state of my existing Pokémon plush collection, I fear this game could quickly get its claws stuck into me.
It costs $15.99 on Nintendo Switch and is free to download on iOS and Android devices. Both versions include paid add-ons, increasing the number of puzzles and plushies available to collect. Now, I’m off to collect ’em all.
