Bigger, longer-lasting, and more expressive, the Google Pixel Watch 4 is meant to be an even smarter companion for your wrist.
Announced overnight with the new Pixel 10 range and Pixel Buds 2a, Google’s latest wearable boasts a lot of percentage point improvements over last year’s Pixel Watch 3.
To start with, Google talked up the smartwatch’s new domed display. It reportedly provides 10 per cent more screen space, including reduced bezels, and is 50 per cent brighter than last year’s model.
For those playing at home, the brightness reaches 3,000 nits, rivalling the likes of the Apple Watch Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra. That’s also without the ‘Ultra’ price tag: the Pixel Watch 4 starts at $579 for the 41mm, and $679 for the 45mm.
As for battery life, Google claims the Pixel Watch 4 lasts up to 40 hours on a single charge. That might not be close to dedicated fitness watches like the high-end Garmin Fenix 8, but considering the short battery life of early Pixel Watches, it’s an improvement nonetheless.
Similar to the Pixel 10 UI refresh, the Watch 4 also gets an on-screen glow-up. Dubbed “Material 3”, Google says the UI is more expressive and therefore easier to navigate and see notifications at a glance.
Repairability is starting to enter Google’s vernacular: like the Pixel Buds 2a, which has a replaceable battery, you can also swap out the watch’s display and battery as needed.
It wouldn’t be a Google announcement without a spoonful (using a very big spoon) of AI. Aside from Gemini AI assistant integration, a lot of the AI revolves around the Pixel Watch 4’s wellness features. It recognises patterns over time to recommend activities based on your routine, and automatically starts tracking activities without needing to open an app.
Expect to see the Google Pixel Watch 4 arrive in Australia on 9 October 2025.
