It’s Google phones galore, as the tech giant revealed the Pixel 10 range overnight, including new Pro and Fold models, plus a long-sought-after feature for Android owners. And there’s good news for Australians: this year’s Pixels cost the same as last year’s range.
To get the hardware talk out of the way, the Pixel 10 range uses the new Tensor G5 chipset. Google claims its next-gen silicon is the company’s “most significant upgrade”, sporting a 34 per cent faster CPU, resulting in smoother overall performance.
All Pixel 10 devices get what Google calls “Pixelsnap”, a magnetic technology that sounds similar to Apple’s MagSafe ecosystem. Pixelsnap lets you quickly attach accessories to the back of the phone, including Qi2 wireless chargers, which the entire Pixel 10 range supports. However, only the Pro XL supports 25W wireless speeds, leaving the rest of the range stranded on 15W.

Cheekily, Google referred to the Pixel 10 as being the first ‘major’ Android phone to support Qi2. It’s seemingly a swipe at HMD — which recently exited the US market — after it debuted the Qi2-compatible Skyline last year.
All phones come with bigger batteries, brighter screens, and various durability tweaks. Arguably, the standard Pixel 10 model benefits from the most significant upgrade, getting a 5x telephoto lens for the first time.
Meanwhile, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold (which is quite the mouthful) now has a gearless and sturdier hinge. Google claims it’s twice as durable as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and it also gets IP68 dust and water resistance.
Buried under various incremental improvements, Google has also given the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL models better speakers designed to sound fuller.
Pixel 10 software
Much like Apple with Liquid Glass, Google is going for a new-look UI to make the Pixel 10 phones look and feel fresh. Designed to be personalised and expressive, the software design is meant to look bouncier and smoother.
Once again, Google turned to AI for the bulk of its phones’ new features. In addition to a more advanced Gemini AI assistant, Magic Cue uses the phone’s local AI to surface relevant information when you need it.

For example, when calling customer service, the feature aims to show you any details relevant to the call, like booking details, and automatically find info when a friend asks about dinner plans.
Google’s AI updates also extend to more natural-sounding live translations between languages. Possibly the most useful will be Camera Coach, which makes composition recommendations based on the scene in front of you.
Google Pixel 10 release date and price
Staggering the launch out over a couple of months, the traditional Pixel 10 design, including the Pro and Pro XL models, arrives in Australia first on 28 August 2025. The Fold arrives alongside the new Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds 2a on 9 October 2025.
Here’s how much the base storage configuration costs for each phone:
- Pixel 10: $1,349
- Pixel 10 Pro: $1,699
- Pixel 10 Pro XL: $1,999
- Pixel 10 Pro Fold: $2,699
Various pre-order deals are live now for those keen to upgrade.
