It’s not often you see a consumer tech brand permanently decrease the price of its wares. Bucking global industry trends, Australian audio brand Rode has dropped the price of its flagship wireless microphones for good.
Popular among content creators for their ease of use and portable design, Rode’s mics cost upwards of 30 per cent less than their original RRP. Rode’s price drops impact its Wireless Micro, Wireless Go 3, and Wireless Pro models.
Rode has faced strong competition in recent years, as more brands have hopped on the content creation bandwagon. Arguably one of its fiercest competitors is the Chinese brand DJI, which offers seamless connectivity between its microphones and camera systems, like the Osmo Pocket 3.
Here’s how much Rode’s mics cost in Australia following the price drop:
- Rode Wireless Micro: $170 (was $260)
- Rode Wireless Go 3: $340 (was $510)
- Rode Wireless Pro: $510 (was $680)
In terms of a direct comparison, the Micro — which comes with two transmitters, a receiver, and a charging case — is cheaper than DJI’s $199 Mic Mini combo. Meanwhile, both the Go 3 and Pro models are cheaper than DJI’s recently released $569 Mic 3, which controversially dropped external lav mic support.

According to Rode CEO Damien Wilson, the price drop is aimed at making it easier for creators to get better-sounding audio.
“Professional audio shouldn’t be a luxury reserved for the few,” Wilson said. “When more creators have access to tools that truly elevate their craft, the entire creative community benefits.
“It’s our responsibility to break down budgetary barriers to make world-class audio accessible to everyone, and these price reductions are a clear demonstration of that commitment.”
All of the reduced-price microphones are available now via Rode’s website.
