How do you create a pencil for a device that has no physical screen to write on? Logitech reckons it has the answer with Muse, a “digital pencil” built to work with the Apple Vision Pro headset.
Set to arrive in Apple stores and Logitech’s website on 29 October, Logitech’s $189.99 accessory pairs with the headset to try and replicate a tactile writing and drawing experience in mixed reality. It reportedly tracks movement in six degrees of freedom, meant to pick up your hand’s intricate movements.
Out of the box, Apple’s headset relies on hand and finger gestures, so this is an attempt to create a more tangible experience. It might feel weird to use a pencil in the air with no force pushing back on you, but Logitech says Muse gives haptic feedback to each action.
Apple recently updated the Vision Pro with the M5 chipset, while Samsung’s Galaxy XR headset is set to provide much cheaper competition.
