Don’t expect a new Mac Pro in 2026, reports suggest

Don’t hold your breath waiting for a new Mac Pro anytime soon. Recent reports indicate that Apple has no plans to refresh its premium desktop computer in 2026.

That scoop comes from Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman — who also reported Apple’s overhauled iPhone launch schedule — writing that Apple sees its more portable Mac Studio desktop as the way forward. As such, Apple reportedly abandoned plans to launch the more powerful M4 Ultra chip.

When Apple launched the latest Mac Studio earlier this year, the desktop came with either an M4 Max or M3 Ultra system-on-a-chip. Based on Gurman’s reporting, an M5 Ultra is in the works, but only for an updated Mac Studio at this stage.

So, it seems unlikely that a successor to the 2023 M2 Ultra Mac Pro will join Apple’s legion of computers in the immediate future.
