Ridiculous NBN Black Friday deal saves up to $300 over 12 months

Ridiculous NBN Black Friday deal saves up to $300 over 12 months

When newcomer telco Arctel joined Australia’s competitive NBN market earlier in the year, it exploded onto the scene with a ridiculously cheap deal. Now Arctel is back with a series of massive Black Friday deals, starting from $50 per month for NBN internet.

As part of a limited-time sale, Arctel is discounting the monthly price of its NBN 25 plan to $50, NBN 50 to $60, NBN 500 to $65, and NBN 1000 to $80. Crucially, those discounted prices last for 12 months, not the typical six months most telco discounts last for.

Across the board, there’s up to $300 in savings over 12 months, depending on which plan you choose. That saving is based on what Arctel normally charges for its internet plans, which are competitively priced to begin with.

Keep in mind that to get NBN plans with download speeds of 500Mbps and faster, you need to have either a Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) or Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) connection. September’s recent speed upgrades only benefit dwellings with those fibre connections. Fortunately, millions of Australians are eligible for a free fibre infrastructure upgrade.

Unlike a lot of Black Friday deals, these sales won’t go live until the actual Black Friday weekend, starting on 28 November. Starting then, Arctel will sell only 250 discounted plans per speed tier each day until 1 December. It’s a strictly limited-time deal with cheaper prices over a longer time than competing telcos.

How much can you save compared to the big telcos?

Over 12 months, Arctel’s discounted NBN 50 plan costs just $720, while its high-speed NBN 500 plan is $780. Compare that to Telstra, Australia’s biggest NBN provider, whose equivalent full-priced NBN plans cost $1,140 and $1,188 over 12 months, respectively.

To take the comparison even further, Arctel’s discounted NBN 1000 plan costs $960 for a year, with the same speed tier costing $1,548 at full price with Telstra, a sizable $588 difference.

It’s an important reminder that the biggest telcos aren’t the cheapest, and that you can save a lot of money by shopping around.

Here’s where you can grab the discounted Arctel NBN plans once the sale kicks off on 28 November at 9 AM:

Customers who stay signed up to the NBN 25 or NBN 50 plan for 24 months also get a D-Link router at no extra cost. At the faster NBN 500 and NBN 1000 tiers, customers can get a Wi-Fi 7 Eero 7 router for the same commitment.

At the time of writing, some of the closest prices come from SpinTel, whose discounted prices last for six months, and the slightly more expensive plans from Tangerine.

Regardless of where you look, it’s a good time to be shopping for cheaper internet, with plenty of great deals around. For comparison, here are some of the current cheapest NBN plans:
